Morning health juice shots recipe
Start your day the right way, with a vibrant feel-good health boost of nutrients. This recipe for three delicious juice shots is an easy way to use excess fresh food while giving you a plentiful supply of juice for days to come.
Each of the recipes for the juice shots creates enough to fill a tray of ice cubes. To serve, either pop a cube in a glass and leave in the fridge to defrost overnight or serve straight from the freezer by topping with sparkling water. It’s an easy and convenient way to get your hit of important vitamins and minerals in the morning.
The Citrus Zest juice is the ultimate uplifting pick-me-up. Fresh and zingy with vitamin C from the fresh citrus fruit, this juice also incorporates turmeric. This golden spice has an active compound called ‘curcumin’ that has been shown to exhibit antibacterial, antioxidising, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity, as well as cancer-fighting potential.
Meanwhile, the In the Pink utilises the wellbeing powerhouse that is the beetroot. Rich in vitamins A and C, along with calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, beetroots are an excllent source of fibre too. Here, it combines with the sweetness of apples, an antioxidant shot of carrots and the rejuvenating tang of zingy ginger to really get you back on your feet – fast!

Ingredients
Citrus Zest juice
- 2 oranges
- 1 lemon
- Thumb-sized piece of fresh turmeric (or 1/2 tsp powder if no fresh available)
- Twist of black pepper
- 1 tsp olive oil
In the Pink juice
- 3 large raw beetroots
- 1 apple
- 1 carrot
- Thumb-size piece of ginger
Go for Green juice
- 2 pears (or apples)
- Stick of celery
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1 lime
- 200g fresh baby kale
Method
- Take your chosen ingredients and whizz through a juicer. Mix and decant into a freezer tray.
- Once frozen, pop a cube into a glass the evening before, so you have a chilled shot ready in the fridge each morning. Alternatively, serve straight from the freezer, pouring over fizzy water to make your own effervescent tablet.
Each juice makes enough for a tray of ice cubes. Add a dash of honey to the juices to taste.
