Try our golden glow smoothie for a skin-friendly boost

2

Start the day with this glow-boosting smoothie – teeming with ingredients to help support healthy skin.

Our golden glow smoothie is tailor-made for a healthy complexion and is packed with skin-supporting nutrition. Top of the list is vitamin C, a super antioxidant found in buckets in all citrus fruits, including oranges. Research shows prioritising vitamin C in our diet can help to protect against UV damage (though be sure to wear a good-quality SPF too).

These protective benefits are at their strongest when combined with vitamin E, which is why we’ve opted for almond milk in this recipe. Don’t miss our guide to making your own plant-based milks here.

We also need vitamin C to produce collagen – the precious protein that lifts skin and keeps it plump and elastic.

Ginger and turmeric are brilliant natural anti-inflammatories. From acne to rosacea, eczema to pigmentation, many common skin concerns are rooted in chronic inflammation. Soothe stressed skin by eating plenty of anti-inflammatory foods and by avoiding inflammatory foods (sugars, processed foods and trans-fats). Don’t skip the twist of freshly ground black pepper either! This helps to activate and boost the benefits of turmeric.

For a probiotic punch, we’ve included a splash of kefir (Liz’s favourite). Great skin starts in the gut and, with 10 million colony-forming units (or good gut bugs) per millilitre of kefir, there’s no better way to start the day. Learn how to make your own kefir here.
