English garden kombucha cocktail recipe

1

This delicious kombucha cocktail is the perfect drink for summer celebrations. It tastes especially good when enjoyed with friends at a garden party!

How to make a kombucha cocktail

Mildly fizzy and slightly sour, kombucha is made when a ‘scoby’ (which stands for ‘symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts’) is added to a sweetened tea and left to ferment.

Like in kefir, the microorganisms feed off the sweet content, meaning it’s a great alternative to sugary drinks. Tea is full of free-radical-fighting antioxidants, and the yeast breaks down the sugars in the fermentation process.

While you can make your own kombucha at home, there are also a number of delicious kombucha brands available to buy. We love to use our Liz Earle Wellbeing Heritage Elderflower Sec. With subtle floral notes of citrusy white elderflower blossom, sublimely balanced with the exquisite dryness of white Muscat grape, it works perfectly in our English garden kombucha cocktail. All in all, you can expect the ultimate sparkling glass of summer fizz!

A shot of gin adds a grown-up element to this drink. But, you can easily serve without alcohol, or alongside a non-alcoholic spirit instead. We review some of our favourite non-alcoholic tipples in our feature here. Seedlip is one brand that’s carved a reputable name as a good gin alternative. We love the Garden 108 blend, made by individually distilling herby botanicals to create a drink with real texture and depth.
