Almond and Brazil nut butter recipe
Looking for a homemade nut butter recipe? While we often pick up nut butters from the shop, making your own at home is a super easy and delicious option. Create a jar full of healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals – perfect for enjoying at home or gifting to friends and loved ones.
Almonds are a great source of healthy fats that help us to feel fuller for longer and support our heart health too. These nutritious nuts are also rich in magnesium and vitamin E, which keep our skin plump and supple.
And the wellbeing benefits of our nut butter recipe don’t end there. Brazil nuts are a fantastic source of healthy fats, but are perhaps most famous for their high selenium content. In fact, Brazil nuts are the richest known food source for selenium. This important mineral plays a key role in supporting our immune system.
Hazelnuts are another wellbeing wonder as a fantastic source of vitamin E and heart-healthy fats. They also contain vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B9 essential for energy and the overall health of the nervous system.
Ingredients
- 150g almonds
- 8 Brazil nuts
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 100g toasted cashew nuts (optional – if not using, just add another 100g almonds)
Method
- Add all the ingredients into a heavy-duty blender/food processor and blend for about 15 minutes, until it becomes creamy. You may need to scrape down the sides of your blender every so often.
- Transfer to a glass jar and store in the fridge for up to a week.
