Liz Earle’s summer morning skincare routine

What does Liz Earle’s morning skincare routine look like in the summer months? Luckily for you, we’ve got all the details straight from the source.

Liz has walked us through her current morning skincare setup – and, in a world of complicated ingredients and fad formulations, it’s refreshingly simple (and effective).

Liz’s summer morning skincare routine

When it comes to finding the right products for her, Liz says her skin tends to err on the dryer side and has become more sensitive over the years. Here she reveals her go-to products:

Cleanser

Liz still uses Liz Earle Beauty Co.’s iconic Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser – the original formula she created over 25 years ago.

While Liz has had no connection with the beauty brand for many years now, the cleanser (and muslin cloth) remains a faithful and much-loved staple of her skincare collection.

That being said, Liz does like to give other cleansers a whirl every once in a while. Currently being put through its paces by Liz is the CeraVe Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser, which comes in with an affordable £12.50 price tag.

“I used not to like anything that foams on my skin, but this contains hyaluronic acid and is super-gentle and lovely to use in the shower first thing,” Liz explains “if you like using foam on your face – which I don’t usually advise – then this is a good choice. I’m also a fan of the By Sarah oil cleanser, which turns to a milky lotion in water, also lovely and super-gentle”.

Toner

After cleansing her skin, Liz then follows up with a skin tonic. Her preferred choice, right now? The Hebridean Marine Face Toner from ishga. Bursting with powerful skin antioxidants from sustainable seaweed, plus salicylic acid to brighten the skin. (You can use the LIZLOVES affiliate discount code to save 15% on ishga skincare). Liz is also a fan of using gentle rose waters on her skin as a toner, too. Just make sure you choose genuine rose water extracted from the petals, not a synthetic copy-cat.

Serum

Post-tone, Liz loves to smooth on a serum for an extra moisture boost. She’s currently raving about Cellreturn UK’s Rich Gold Hyaluronic Acid Ampoule, which contains 18 different botanicals plus the most powerful form  of hyaluronic acid AND real gold flakes to provide skin with energy and moisture. A relatively new launch, Liz is a genuine fan and not because it’s created by her daughter – beauty tech entrepreneur, Lily Earle. In Liz’s words, it gives “a very special hydrating and brightening glow.” Use the LIZLOVES24 code to save 10% here.

Despite not being personally involved in its creation, The Liz Earle Beauty Co. Superskin Face Serum has also earned a place as one of Liz’s firm skincare favourites. The formulation includes naturally active ingredients such as pomegranate flower, Persian silk tree and rhubarb extracts. Liz massages a couple of pumps into her face and neck for a good pre-make-up fixing base.

Moisturiser

As Liz’s skin is on the dry side (not helped by nightly retinol), she follows up her serum with a good quality moisturiser.

She’s been a fan of the Beauty Pie Triple Hyaluronic Acid Deep Moisture Miracle Cream for a while now. Using three different types of hyaluronic acid, it’s light-textured but deeply moisturising. “It’s excellent and really suits my dry, sensitive skin,” Liz says. You can also use the LIZLOVES code for £10 off your first month membership at Beauty Pie – well worth joining to take advantage of sensational skincare savings.

SPF

As any beauty buff will know, SPF is a crucial, final step in any good skincare routine. So, unless she’s spending the day writing or filming indoors, Liz always uses a good sunscreen to protect her skin from damaging UV rays, applying it to her face, neck, upper chest and backs of hands.

Her pick of the moment is PCA Skin Weightless Protection Broad Spectrum SPF 45 – as recommended to Liz by a dermatologist friend. We love it too! Plus, you can use LIZLOVES at PCA Skin and enjoy a 10% discount.

Of course, Liz has always been a firm believer in beauty from the inside and out, too. Drink your water, eat well (especially skin-friendly fats) and get outside to really help your skin to glow from within.
