Five-minute makeup look for daytime glam
Pushed for time? There’s no need to compromise on your look as we’ve teamed up with leading makeup artist and resident Liz Earle Wellbeing magazine columnist, Hannah Martin. Here, Hannah shares a speedy five-minute makeup routine to help you look glam, even when time isn’t on your side.
How to achieve a five-minute makeup look
Minute one: Prepare your skin
Prepare skin for makeup with the CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion. It’s in a convenient tube with a pump (no faffing with lids!) and glides over the skin easily. It’s also lightweight and absorbs really quickly, so there’s no need to wait before applying your base.
A foundation with a high SPF is ideal for when you’re in a rush. The Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue Moisturizing Makeup SPF 45 hydrates the skin and is a dream to blend.
Minute two: Enhance your natural glow
Concealer is always a good idea, even for the quickest of routines. A little sweep of the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Concealer under the eye can instantly brighten your complexion.
Before setting your base with powder, apply your lip and cheek colour. Using the same product for both helps to save time. You can either use your favourite lipstick (MAC Satin Lipstick in Brave is fab) or a cream blush like Jillian Dempsey Cheek Tint in Bloom. If you’re using a lipstick, apply to the lips first, then tap your fingers on your lips to pick up excess product and dab onto cheeks for a really natural flush.
Minute three: Set your look
Dust a light coating of powder through the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) to lock your base in place. Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder does an excellent job of setting makeup and also creating a really flattering blurring effect on the skin.
Take a few seconds to warm the skin with a wash of bronzer that can also be swept across eyelids for the quickest of shadow looks. The Urban Decay Beached Bronzer is ideal. It has a matte finish and blends seamlessly into the makeup underneath.
Minute four: Perfect your brows
For super-speedy brows, use a brow gel that will not only add colour and texture, but set hairs into place for the day.
Blink Brow Bar London has just relaunched its Brow Build Gel with a new, smaller spoolie, and it’s never been better. Simply brush the wand through your brows following the growth of the hair.
Maybe three or four strokes and that’s your brows done.
Minute five: Define your eyes
You don’t have to be a makeup artist to perfect your eyeliner in under 30 seconds. Pick a really smooth, creamy liner (like the Victoria Beckham Satin Kajal Liner) and dot along the lash line. There’s no need to be neat, as you’re going to use your ring finger to blend and smudge the dots to create a smokey look.
Spend the final 30 seconds applying a good few coats of mascara. The Honest Beauty Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer is ideal for the job. As the name suggests, it has a primer on one end and a lovely mascara with a narrow comb applicator on the other. It will give you wide-eyed, lengthened lashes in moments.
