Floating massage, energy testing and yoni cleansing: a look inside this Liz-approved wellness retreat…

There are very few places in the world where I have felt such a profound shift in my internal state as I did at Kintsugi Spa in Abu Dhabi.
This women-only wellness sanctuary was created with an ambitious intention – not only to support individual healing, but to help raise the collective vibrational frequency of the city itself. It takes its name from the Japanese art of Kintsugi – repairing broken pottery with gold – a philosophy that highlights healing, resilience and becoming stronger (and more precious) through repair.
This is not a conventional spa. There’s no focus on weight loss, fitness goals or aesthetic perfection. Instead, everything here centres on your personal frequency – the energetic signature believed to underpin physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. If that sounds a bit unconventional, that is precisely the point. Kintsugi operates in the emerging realm of quantum wellness, where the body is understood not simply as biochemical, but bioenergetic.

Inside Kintsugi Spa: the UAE’s most unusual women-only wellness retreat
My experience began with a 90-minute Quantum Assessment with lead practitioner and experienced naturopathic physician Dr Keerthana Suresh. Using Tesla coils and connecting to scalar wave technology, I underwent a detailed energetic analysis to assess my physical, emotional and psychosomatic state. This included two-finger frequency scanners, voice analysis software and conductive frequency plates, each mapping my individual vibrational profile.
Can energy testing really reveal hidden health imbalances?
Quantum physics teaches us that everything, including our cells, operates at specific frequencies. The premise at Kintsugi is that when those frequencies fall out of coherence, the body loses efficiency. Restore the correct frequencies, and the body can return to balance. Major ‘woo’ alert? For sure – but what surprised me most was the accuracy. The system detected a minor, benign health issue I had never disclosed, other than privately to my own doctor. That gave me a jolt. A powerful reminder that the body holds information far beyond what we consciously perceive.
From this, a personalised protocol was created, including one of Kintsugi’s central tools: charged water. A simple glass of water is placed on a quantum plate and infused with frequencies matched to your own energetic signature. This charged water is then given throughout the day to support recalibration at a cellular level (no-one else is allowed to touch it).
Extraordinary as it sounds, I did feel different. Calmer. Clearer. More aligned.
Ancient therapies to rebalance body and mind

The spa itself spans seven floors, each corresponding to one of the body’s seven chakras. Even the therapists’ coloured belts reflect energy rather than hierarchy – they choose daily to represent their emotional state – powerful, joyful, peaceful etc. Gentle bells sound periodically throughout the day, inviting both guest and practitioner to pause, breathe and reset. In the elegant bistro, a plasma generator emits specific frequencies associated with emotional and physiological states, including 639 Hz, the ‘love’ frequency linked to connection and harmony. Sitting quietly nearby became one of my favourite daily rituals.
Alongside the quantum technologies, there are exceptional physical treatments designed to support circulation and energetic flow. The hammam ritual left my skin exceptionally smooth, while a deeply intuitive lymphatic drainage massage from the remarkable therapist Lorraine was worth the journey alone.

Yoni cleansing and vaginal steaming
One of the most unusual rituals I experienced at Kintsugi was a traditional herbal smoke cleansing, sometimes referred to as vaginal fumigation or yoni dhūpana, a practice rooted in both Ayurvedic and Arabic healing traditions.
Used for centuries to support feminine wellbeing, this ritual involves sitting (knicker-less, beneath a traditional robe) over a specially designed wooden stool while sacred botanicals such as frankincense and palo santo are gently heated beneath. The rising aromatic smoke provides warmth while the medicinal plant compounds support tissue health, circulation and chakra cleansing.
The ritual is seen not only as physical, but energetic – clearing stagnation and restoring coherence. It felt less like a treatment, and more like participation in an ancient lineage of feminine healing – respectful, calming and restorative.
LED light therapy, hydrotherapy and floating massage…
Other treatments included LED light therapy, hydrotherapy, floating water massage beneath the Abu Dhabi sky, and simple yet powerful moments of stillness. Even quiet activities such as colouring were encouraged, helping shift the nervous system into deeper repair. Kintsugi is not simply about relaxation. It is about recalibration.
We are, at our core, energetic beings. Every cell communicates through electrical signals. Every system depends on coherence and flow. When that coherence is restored, the body has an extraordinary capacity to heal. You may arrive curious. You may even arrive sceptical. But you will almost certainly leave changed. I did.
So, does quantum wellness work?
After just four days (including international flights), I came away calmer, clearer and more deeply connected to myself. In a world that constantly pulls us out of balance, Kintsugi offers something quietly radical: the opportunity to tune back into your own frequency. On arrival, my frequency, apparently, was ‘395’. When I left, it was recorded as raised to ‘710’. What does this mean? I’m not entirely sure, but it was the best four days I’ve spent in a wellness spa – and I’d love to go back for more.
